Call for Residencies at the Peace Castle.

Exploring the nexus between art and peacebuilding. Letting the unspeakable explain meaning that is lost in trauma. Adding nuance and empathy to shift paradigms in conflict.

Residencies are available to a wide range of artists and writers, including but not limited to visual artists, video/filmmakers, composers, performing artists, poets, musicians, designers, photographers, fiction- and non fiction writers.

Peace Castle Residencies


The Peace Castle Residencies beginn in May 2024 and are ongoing. You can apply for a residency at any time and there are no fixed timeframes for a residency. The programme's intention is to find the right frames to meet individual artists needs. However the maximum possible period is limited to 4 weeks. Please get in touch with us to start a dialogue about developing your work with us.

- Mentoring

- Connections to local communities

- Connections to international institutions and partners

- Venues for sharing and presenting work

- Per diems

- Local transport


International travel costs can't be funded or reimbursed.

Application Form

The open call is for Residencies at airBurgenland is ongoing. Applications and residencies are possible all year round. There is no fixed time frame for the duration of residencies, but they are limited to a maximum of four weeks. Please send us a brief description of your project, information about yourself and an indication when you could imagine to start your project. If possible, please add links to your website or previous projects.

A international centre for Peace

The castle hosts the Austrian Centre for Peace, a UN Peace Messenger organisation engaging in practical conflict transformation. It's principles of pluralism and complexity form an inspiring complementary presence for artists in residence.

A Place for Exchange

The Castle has various open and accessible indoor and outdoor spaces that are ideal as a hub for interdisciplinary exchange between artists from different backgrounds.
